Fixing Stuff and Walking the Dog -- March 6

Hazel has taken to picking up the dog's leash when we get home from a walk.  Emma does not tend to look particularly excited about this, but she's a pretty good sport.

An Improvised Winter Stroll - March 3

We have been trying to get out more on the weekends, now that the weather is just a little bit nicer.  A trip to Afton State Park was in order on this sunny Sunday.  We ended up walking, although we had intended to snowshoe.  We also ended up carrying Hazel in an improvised sling, made from the sheet we keep in the back of the car for keeping the dog hair out of the upholstery.  The baby carrier was left at home, and we were too far away to turn around!  It worked pretty well, and Hazel even got a nap in it.

After about a mile of walking (mostly uphill) it was time for a snack.  Hazel had half a banana.

Bottle Babble -- March 2

A few days before this, we were in the kitchen working on supper and Hazel was playing in the living room by herself.  We were startled to hear what sounded like serious tears, and hurried to check on the little one.  Instead of tears, we found serious giggles.  Hazel had discovered an empty bottle, and had figured out on her own that she could make funny sounds by talking into the mouth of it.  It's never too early to learn how to make yourself laugh!

Baby -- March 1

Hazel has taken to toting her baby doll around, she is Hazel's favorite of the squishy toys.

Vroom -- March 1

Hazel is getting the hang of rolling her car around, and sometimes she will even imitate car noises.

She has a new smile these days, which involves much nose-crinkling.  It also shows off her pretty little teeth! She has two on the bottom, which she got for Christmas, and now she is working on a new one on the top.

Peek-A-Boo -- February 27

Hazel was helping with laundry and took a break to play peek-a-boo.  Can you see her teeth?!

Block Towers -- February 21

Recently, we were invited to supper with our friends John and Tammy and their almost two year old son.  Tammy was surprised that Hazel wasn't at all interested in knocking over towers of blocks.  We decided to try it at home, and it has become a new favorite game.  We have to work together most times to get our tower built all the way up before it gets knocked down.

Hazel giggles as soon as she sees that a tower has been built, and gleefully knocks it down.  She also likes to lift the top off, and topple towers that way.  Surprisingly, she has also been trying to help build towers up.

Getting Ripped -- February 20

Most mornings these days start with Hazel "getting ripped" with her dad.  This morning, they were using exercise bands.
