Mysterio Predicts--June 28

One of Hazel's first gifts was a mystery t-shirt, predicting what she would be when she grew up.  It reads "Mysterio Predicts I will be a Professional Bowler."   We'll see!

This may be a blurry smile, but it's a smile nonetheless! 

This high chair was made by Andrew's Grandpa Dale, and was used by Abbi and Andrew, and now Erin and Hazel.  She's a little little for it still, but she'll happily sit and watch us eat at the table once she's propped up.  

Reading Time--June 26

Hazel was spending some time reading this morning, and Emma decided to join her.  We were reading from Andrew's children's Bible, and were making our way through Genesis when the dog decided she needed a spot on the blanket too.

Outside -- June 25

The weather was actually pretty nice, so we all went out in the backyard to enjoy it while it lasted.  It wasn't too hot, wasn't too humid, and wasn't too buggy.  

Hazel is just now starting to grab objects and hang on to them.

Emma was quite happy to join us in the backyard.  She couldn't decide whether she wanted to sit with the three of us or chase bugs, so she did a little of both.

Evening Rollerblade--June 24

We're glad that Hazel doesn't mind the car seat, because she has a few road trips coming up!

We went about 6 miles, and Hazel slept for most of it.   

Tummy Time Success--June 24

Hazel was a bit more cooperative for tummy time today, although she did eventually roll over.

After a lot of baby push-ups, she had enough and rolled right over:

Hazel sleeps very well at night, usually about 6 or 7 hours in a row.  She's getting better at napping, although her favorite place to nap is on someone's lap!

Happy Faces-- June 19

Hazel is quite the smiler these days, although we don't capture too many on film.  She may not enjoy tummy time, but she does enjoy hanging out on the couch with a friend like a real person!

Tummy Time -- June 19

 Hazel is supposed to spend 10-20 minutes once or twice per day working on tummy time in order to prevent the back of her head from getting flat, and to encourage large motor skill development.  

Hazel is such a big fan of tummy time that she promptly flipped onto her back this morning instead.

She has rolled over before, but she is definitely still perfecting her technique. 

Big Rivers Regional Trail--June 17

We discovered Big Rivers Regional Trail as part of our rather epic search for Fort Snelling State Park.  It's not too terribly busy, although there is a plethora of super bikers on a nice day. Andrew got more than one "happy father's day" from people we passed, which was super sweet.

Out for a Walk--June 16

We go for walks most days, and sometimes we go around Lake Como, which is within walking distance of the house.  This time, we saw a turtle crossing the path .  Once it saw Emma, it picked up the pace a bit and scurried out of sight.  Emma was interested, although not quite as interested as she was in the chimp we saw in the park last summer.

Avoiding Tummy Time--June 13

Hazel was supposed to be working on tummy time, but she didn't have very much patience for that.  She was pretty happy to look around for a while, though.

Fort Snelling State Park--June 11

We've been back to Fort Snelling State Park a few times now.  We can almost forget that we're in the cities!  We saw a turkey once, and this time we saw a few deer.  Hazel is just starting to face frontward.  She likes to see the world, but it tires her out.
